Kinobesuch im OLI- Kino : Berichte über den Film “Ballon” aus dem Englischunterricht 

On 24th October I went to the Oli Lichtspiele cinema with my class. There we saw the German movie Ballon. The film is a political thriller and a historical movie. It is based on a true story: A family, that wants to escape from the GDR to West Germany, constructs a hot air balloon to cross the border. 

I think the ending of the movie is quite enjoyable because it is a happy end. 

I would recommend the movie to people who like exciting films because it tells a suspenseful story about what risks people take to be free. 

In my opinion the movie was good but it wouldn’t be my choice because for me it`s too dramatic.

…In my opinion the film is very nice and instructive and I liked watching it because I’m very interested in German history. My favourite scene is when the two families arrive in West Germany. (…) I would recommend the movie because I like films which create a tense atmosphere and because it`s very informative.

… Therefore the families construct a hot air balloon to flee to West Germany. Their first try fails and the GDR regime gets on their track. The families build a second balloon and finally make it over the border. (…) My favourite scene was when the kindergarten teacher asks the little boy Peter what his father works. The ending of the movie made me feel happy because the border came down and the people were free. 

I would recommend the movie because it is full of drama and I love drama.
